Evidence-based climate mitigation for practical, farmer-centred agriculture in Central and Eastern Europe.

AgriCEE – Mitigation-Smart Farming supports the adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices in Czechia, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. The project brings together scientific evidence, farmer experience and policy dialogue to make agricultural climate mitigation more practical, targeted and acceptable for farmers.

About the project

AgriCEE – Mitigation-Smart Farming is a regional project focused on enhancing climate mitigation in agriculture in Central and Eastern Europe.

Working across Czechia, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary, the project focuses on arable farming and climate-smart agricultural practices that can contribute to lower emissions, healthier soils and more resilient farming systems.

The project combines scientific evidence with farmers’ perspectives and policy analysis. Its aim is to support agricultural and climate policy decision-makers in designing mitigation policies that reflect local conditions, farmers’ needs and practical implementation barriers.

Connecting knowledge, farming practice and policy for climate-smart agriculture

AgriCEE creates space for cooperation across the region, helping turn climate objectives into practical solutions for farmers and decision-makers.

Evidence-based practices

We identify and assess agricultural practices with climate mitigation potential, focusing on their relevance for farming systems in Central and Eastern Europe.

Farmers’ perspectives

We explore farmers’ motivations, barriers and needs to ensure that mitigation recommendations are practical, realistic and acceptable.

Policy dialogue

We support dialogue between farmers, advisors, researchers, policymakers and civil society to strengthen agri-climate policy design.

Supporting climate-smart agriculture in the region

AgriCEE builds capacity, creates evidence and supports cooperation among key actors working on agricultural climate mitigation.

Countries involved

Czechia, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary working together for climate-smart agriculture.

Farmers’ voices

Farmers will share insights on barriers, needs and motivations for adopting mitigation practices.

Project duration

A regional programme of research, dialogue and knowledge sharing for practical agricultural climate mitigation.
